As you may be aware, Hilland Wood has been or is being fenced in from the public, particularly from those who reside in Hilland Rise and surrounding properties. The reason given is that a Mr Anthony, who owns the land, is intending to coppice the area. In the past, this has been achieved by taping off the particular area with little or no inconvenience to those who regularly walk these paths. It is our belief that the footpaths will not be reopened once the coppicing has finished.
It is common knowledge that Mr Anthony has been attempting to sell the land but to date has been unable to do so.
It is our intention to apply for the footpaths to be made official, as they have been walked regularly over the last 35+ years and with your help and the Hampshire County Council, we intend to fight the closure and access restriction. If you would like to support this action, please complete the form ( click here) and mark the footpaths that you have used on a regular basis on the map, sign and return to Graham Nicklen at no. 48 Hilland Rise or Ron Proudlock at no. 46 Hilland Rise, GU35 8LZ
Please return these forms by 8th February 2010

Choose 30 is a campaign aimed at persuading people that reducing their speed in a rural village can have a big impact on the local community living there. Choose 30 has been created to compliment the County Council’s Village 30 Project, an ongoing scheme to reduce speed limits in villages to 30mph where the community requests it and the location fits a set criteria.
