THE CHASE HOSPITAL LEAGUE OF FRIENDS

The early part of the year was one of speculation as rumours surfaced again regarding the closure of the Hospital. These were soon squashed and we all breathed a sigh of relief.
Fund raising is the main purpose of the League of Friends and many activities were organised throughout the year. A “Soup & Dessert” Lunch in April, Afternoon Tea in September and a “Garden Brunch Party” held at Highland Farm in June were all well supported and enjoyed by all.

We attended Blackmoor Apple Day with our Toy and Bric-a- Brac stall and the Christmas Fayre held at the Masonic Hall in Bordon was a very well attended event. There is now a Matron at the Hospital and we are working with her to purchase items needed for the Ward which is now being utilized to its full potential.

Our President recently met with members of the medical profession, the conclusion from the meeting being that the Chase Hospital is under-utilized. The PCT is aware of this and steps are being taken to address the situation.

The X-ray department is now open on more days and very well used by our area and patients from Alton.

Many donations have been received throughout the year – Headley Bowling Club, Lindford Cricket Club and from various Masonic Lodges in the area. These together with the Memorial donations from families who have benefited from the Hospital are most gratefully received by the League and help enormously.

The Coffee Shop is open every morning from 10am to 12 noon so if you are in the area pop in for a coffee, buy a book and have a chat. If you would like to consider becoming a Member of the League of Friends it is £3.00 p.a. or £20.00 Life Membership.
