CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

Reading through the Council's minutes for the last twelve months reveals many ongoing matters discussed, but with only one notable new item, namely the theft of the flagstones at the Headley War Memorial, a despicable act, and their subsequent replacement, followed by the planned cleaning of the Memorial, which was completed in time for Remembrance Day.

The Whitehill-Bordon Eco Town Project remains an important issue for Headley, and in particular Standford. We had three speakers on the Project at the April 2010 Annual Parish Meeting, and a lively question and answer session followed. As you will see this is also the subject for this year's Annual Parish Meeting.

Highway topics feature regularly during the year, in particular problems with the 30 mph Speed Limit Reminder sign, which seems to have been cured with a change of contractor. We also submitted our comments to Hampshire County Council on proposed traffic 'calming' measures through Arford.
The Parish Council decided to donate £200 of the 2009 Calor Village of the Year prize money to the Holme School.

Following the snowfalls of Winter 2009/10, repeated again this winter, we received new (blue) grit bins from the County Council, and have requested further bins in Phase Two of this scheme.
September saw another successful Village Fete, blessed by fine weather, which was enjoyed by all who attended, and was judged a 'traditional village event'.

There have been a few changes within the Council during the year, as noted in the Editor's Introduction. Special mentions go to Richard Clifford, who I replaced as Chairman in May, to Deborah Chamberlain who edits the Parish Council Newsletter, and to Dennis Tregay for his hard work as Editor of this report.
The Councillors look forward to the election in May 2011 to see who will serve the residents of Headley Parish for the next four years.

Anthony Williams
Chairman,
Headley Parish Council
