Bridleway No.49 – Openlands (From Furze Hill Road to Furze Vale Road)

There is a finger post pointing straight ahead where Furze Hill Road bears right. Near to it is a metal bench to the memory of David Hill.

The bridleway follows a sunken track uphill and is quite rutted in places.

It emerges into open woodland where several paths go off to left and right, well used by dog walkers.

The woodland, known as ‘Openlands’, is managed by the Headley Public Utility Society Ltd – there is a stone tablet showing this near to the top exit (shown here) – and the area is freely open to the public.

It exits into the end of Furze Vale Road at its junction with Oakhill Road. There is a finger post in the reverse direction, and also a traffic sign indicating ‘no vehicular traffic’.
Note: Continue straight ahead into Oakhill Road to follow FP35.
