Footpath No.31 – High Street to Liphook Road (via ‘Headley Fields’)

From the High Street, take the unadopted road (‘Headley Fields’) to the right of Crabtree House. There is no signage.

Shortly, ignore the concrete track veering to the right: this was laid by the Canadians during WW2 for their tanks to access a service area.

After Mayfield House, FP32 branches to the right– there is no signage.  FP31 carries straight on.

After Lane End the track divides – take either route ...

... to arrive where the path continues straight ahead.

The path passes between garden fences ...

... arriving at a barrier leading to the driveway to Heathfield House.
Note: Turning left down the driveway of Heathfield House takes you to the junction of Liphook Road and Hurland Lane and allows a circular walk back to Headley via Hilland Woods. This is a route which has been ‘adopted’ as part of the Headley ‘Walk for Health’ project, although sadly the barrier does not allow the passage of wheelchairs.

... before passing through a ‘gateway’ of upstanding railway sleepers ...

... and arriving at Liphook Road near the electricity substation, where there is a finger post (photo in reverse direction).
Note from the original Footpaths booklet: At one time there was a pond at this corner (of Liphook Road) and it is still known as Dirty Hole Corner to those of us who are ‘natives’!
