Bridleway No.508 – Hilland Wood (Junction of Gentles Lane and Pond Road to Hurland Lane)
Updated July 2020
There is a finger post at the bottom of Gentles Lane leading uphill into woodland. At a left-hand bend there is a private gate on the right, but the finger post points in reverse direction only (photo also in reverse direction). The bridleway crosses an (often) muddy patch and bears slightly right while an unmarked Permissive Path goes left.It descends with coppice wood on the left ...... then rises to a sharp left-hand turn marked by a finger post (see photo) at the large tree.
[Another well-used path carries straight on at this point, but it is neither a public right of way nor a permissive path.]The bridleway then follows the boundary of Headley Grange on the right to meet Hurland Lane. (photo, in reverse direction). Here there is a finger post for both this bridleway and FP509 which begins at the same place.
