Footpath No.10 – “Bluebell Walk”: Huntingford Bridge to County boundary with Surrey

This path continues as Surrey FP58 to meet Old Lane.

Note: This path has gates, stiles and steep steps.

Go through the kissing gate north of Huntingford Bridge, and follow the direction of the finger-post across the field ...

... to another gate.

There is a set of steep, rustic steps directly on the other side of the gate which need care ...

... leading up to a junction of paths. Turn right (there is a paper ‘footpath’ sign attached to a tree) along a level path through woods.

In the season these woods are full of bluebells.

Following a stile, the well-used path continues ...

... eventually dropping with views of the river valley to the right ...

... until it reaches a T-junction with a redundant kissing gate to one side. Turn left (beware: there is no sign here and the track to the right looks tempting) ...

... and enter a field often populated with grazing cattle.

The next gate marks the county boundary with Surrey. If the gate is closed, there are two stiles to negotiate – neither has a waymark on it, but we assume the first is in Hampshire and the second in Surrey. Here Headley FP10 ends and Surrey FP58 begins.

To continue the walk, pass through a further gate or over its stile ,,,

... until you come to a 3-way finger post in the hedge. Turn left here and strike out across the field ...

... towards a gate on the opposite side which is normally left ajar. 
[Sometimes this field is ploughed and you have to make your own path.]

Pass through the gate and soon arrive at another gate with a stile beside it ...

... though there is space for the slender to slide through unhindered!

This leads out to Old Lane. Note: Turning left along Old Lane gives a link to FP8 and other paths back to Headley.
