Footpath No. 9 - Picketts Hill Farm to Huntingford Bridge

The true start point of this footpath is at the roadside opposite Picketts Hill Farm

The path then runs parallel to the road, but is not used and has become impassable. It is much more convenient just to walk along the road.
[On maps of circa 1910 the path cut diagonally across the field, and this line is shown even on modern OS maps which, since it is on a direct line between Picketts Hill Farm and Huntingford Bridge, makes sense of the original start point. But since being diverted, this section of the path is no longer useful.]

The useful start point is next to the gate to Picketts Hill House, marked with a guide-post.

However, as even this section of the path is little used (BOAT 37 being generally more convenient) it also often becomes overgrown.

If you persevere, the path becomes clearer, clinging to the top of the slope between a fence and the sunken lane which is BOAT 37.

It arrives eventually at a stile to a field.

Follow the line of the hedge to your left ...

... to arrive at another stile in the lower corner of the field.

This leads out to Smithy Lane with signpost (photo in reverse direction) near to Huntingford Bridge. BOAT 37 exits here at the same location.
