Footpath No.24 – Beech Hill Road to Arford Common

Updated October 2020

Notes: This path has barriers.
There are two major E-W paths in regular use on Arford Common which are not public rights of way. FP24 forms a link between them. The path leading from FP24 to Windmill Drive is well used as an entry to Arford Common by dog walkers and others, but is of undetermined status.

Recommendations: Finger post to be added at junction with FP43. Determine if the right of way should extend to FP40 and, if so, clear and mark it.

1
Finger post at Beech Hill Road through a metal barrier.

2
Follow the narrow, straight path between fences ...

3
... and past a junction with a path leading to Windmill Drive ...

4
... to where another metal barrier used to be (view from other side) ...

4a
... (but removed Oct 2010) where it crosses the current path of FP43.

5
The footpath then bears left and cuts across Arford Common diagonally.

6
It merges with another path (not a numbered right of way) and should cross this path and meet FP40 – but this photo shows that this is no longer a clear or obvious passage (probably because there is no need for it). There is no guide post on FP40 to FP24.
