Footpath No.43 – Arford Common (Beech Hill Road to Glayshers Hill)

Updated July 2020

Note: This path has steps.

1
Finger post by the grass triangle at the junction of Beech Hill Road and FP41.

2
The path, initially through grass, becomes a sunken track skirting the southern edge of Arford Common with a hedge to the right.

3
Soon after a left turn, the official route should go straight ahead where the path now turns sharp right following the hedge. The way ahead is no longer viable (see photo).

4
Following the hedge, the path crosses FP24 at the point where the latter enters Arford Common through a metal barrier.

5
Here there is a choice of two paths to continue on FP43: straight ahead or bearing left – both soon join again (the photo shows this point in a reverse direction) and lead eventually to steps going down to FP40.

6
There is no finger post from FP40 to FP43, though the steps to it are clearly seen. There is a Headley Parish Council sign for Arford Common at the top of the steps.
Recommendations: Current route to be confirmed as public Right of Way. Finger posts added at junctions with FP24 and FP40.
